Apttus CPQ vs Salesforce CPQ: what each is in 2026, and what moving off either looks like

Both names describe products that peaked a product generation ago. Apttus CPQ is sold today as Conga CPQ, owned by Thoma Bravo-backed Conga. Salesforce CPQ (SBQQ) stopped being sold to new customers in March 2025 and gets no new features. If you run either, the question is not which is better — it is what you move to next.

Why people still search for this comparison

Most searches for “Apttus CPQ vs Salesforce CPQ” come from teams that chose one of them between 2016 and 2021 and are now being asked, by a renewal or a Salesforce account team, what comes next. The original comparison — Apttus’s deeper enterprise configuration against SteelBrick’s simpler native quoting — is history. What matters now is the exit.

From Salesforce CPQ, Salesforce’s intended path is Revenue Cloud Advanced, a 12–18 month rebuild in practice and prices at $150–$200 per user per month (Salesforce · pricing). From Conga CPQ, the vendor’s path is deeper into Conga’s own platform. Both are re-implementations, not upgrades.

What moving off each one involves

The mechanics are similar. The differences are in how much of your data already sits in standard Salesforce objects.

Common questions

Apttus vs Salesforce CPQ — FAQ

All questions →

In 2026 the question is moot for buyers: Salesforce CPQ is no longer sold to new customers, and Apttus CPQ is sold as Conga CPQ. If you already run one, compare exits, not features. A full rebuild runs 12–18 months in practice (source); a move to a Salesforce-native alternative such as Kugamon typically takes 4–10 weeks depending on the source.

Both install as managed packages inside your org. Conga CPQ can additionally run pricing and configuration on Conga’s compute platform through TurboPricing and TurboConfig, which sync data with your org (Conga docs). Salesforce CPQ runs entirely inside the org. See what “Salesforce-native” actually means.

Neither publishes a current list price. Conga quotes each deal; Salesforce CPQ is no longer sold new and was historically quoted around $75 per user per month by third-party listings. Salesforce’s successor, Revenue Cloud Advanced, is $150 or $200 per user per month on its published pricing page. Kugamon publishes $65 on the AppExchange. Run your own numbers in the calculator.

Not as a new customer. Salesforce stopped selling CPQ licenses to new customers in March 2025 (Salesforce). The realistic destinations from Apttus / Conga CPQ are Conga’s own platform, Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced, or a Salesforce-native alternative — see Conga CPQ alternatives.
