Kugamon vs Conga CPQ

Kugamon and Conga CPQ both run on Salesforce, but only one stores quotes, orders and pricing in the standard Salesforce objects.

The short answer

  • You need deep, standalone contract lifecycle management and document generationConga. Its CLM and DocGen are the strongest parts of the suite.
  • You're committed to Salesforce and want native reports, native Agentforce and a Price Book your admin already knowsKugamon. Quotes, orders and pricing are standard Salesforce records — nothing to sync.
  • Cost and time to value decide itKugamon publishes its prices ($65–$125 per user per month) and deploys in 4–8 weeks; Conga is contact-sales only and implementations commonly run 3–6 months.

Where Conga CPQ is the better fit

Saying this plainly is what makes the rest of the page credible.

  • Contract lifecycle management. Conga CLM is a mature, standalone product; Kugamon's contract management is basic by comparison.
  • Document generation. Conga Composer is the category standard for complex, templated documents.
  • Pricing science. With the PROS B2B acquisition (completed February 2, 2026) Conga adds AI-driven price optimisation aimed at large enterprises.

What the architecture difference means day to day

The question to ask any CPQ vendor is simple: where does my quote data physically live, and can I run a native Salesforce report on it without exporting or syncing? With Kugamon the answer is "in your org, on the standard objects, yes." With Conga the answer involves Conga's own objects and, for pricing and configuration compute, a separate platform that syncs on a schedule. That difference shows up in three places: the reports your finance team builds, the skills your admin needs, and what Agentforce can see.

The admin-ownership question

Conga deployments typically depend on certified partners and a dedicated admin who holds the institutional knowledge. Kugamon is designed to be configured by the Salesforce admin you already have, in point-and-click Settings, with instructor-led sessions during implementation. Ask both vendors to demo a three-level conditional approval, live, configured by your admin rather than theirs.

Common questions

Kugamon vs Conga CPQ — FAQ

All questions →

Conga CPQ installs into Salesforce as managed packages, but it stores configuration, pricing and proposals in its own objects (the Apttus_Config2 and Apttus_Proposal namespaces) and uses its own Price List objects rather than the standard Price Book. Its TurboPricing and TurboConfig engines run outside the org. Kugamon stores everything in the standard Salesforce objects inside your org.

Kugamon publishes its prices: $65 per user per month for CPQ, up to $125 for Subscription Billing, with a fixed implementation fee. Conga does not publish list pricing. The fair comparison is 3-year total cost including implementation and ongoing consulting, which the ROI calculator lays out with every estimate labelled.

Typically 6–10 weeks. The pivotal step is moving pricing from Conga's Price Lists onto the standard Salesforce Price Book; most catalog audits find 20–40% of items are inactive or duplicated and can be dropped.

When contract lifecycle management or complex document generation is the centre of your requirement, or when you are a large enterprise buying price-optimisation science after Conga's PROS acquisition. Kugamon's CLM is basic by comparison.

Conga continues to release CPQ updates (for example the February 2026 release deprecated the Guided Selling objects). Its public positioning since the 2020 merger has centred on CLM, document automation and, since 2026, pricing — buyers should ask for the committed CPQ roadmap in writing.
