Migrate from Revenue Cloud Advanced to Kugamon: the playbook

Revenue Cloud Advanced is Salesforce’s current CPQ, published at $150–$200 per user per month, built on a new data model that takes 12–18 months in practice to adopt. Kugamon is one managed package on your standard Products and Price Books at $65, admin-led, typically 4–8 weeks. Same org, lighter footprint.

Where you are

Revenue Cloud Advanced is a multi-package rebuild at $200/user/month that takes 12–18 months in practice to stand up. Kugamon is native functionality on the same Salesforce-native architecture — installs in 4–8 weeks, at $65 vs. $200 per user per month, without the multi-package complexity.

Revenue Cloud Advanced is a multi-package rebuild, not an upgrade — CPQ, Billing, and a stack of add-on packages that have to be installed, configured, and coordinated together. Licensing runs $200/user/month (Growth edition $150), more than 2.5× the ~$75 historically quoted for legacy CPQ. A full rebuild runs 12–18 months in practice, and over-budget projects are common. Every quote model change touches multiple packages. What Revenue Cloud Advanced actually is →

Kugamon is a Salesforce managed package on the same Salesforce-native architecture — same Products, same Price Books, same security model — with quote, order, billing, and subscriptions all in one place. The #1 rated CPQ on AppExchange (4.9 stars across 130+ public reviews), installed in 4–8 weeks at $65 vs. $200 per user per month, without the multi-package coordination tax.

Salesforce publishes Revenue Cloud pricing at $150 (Growth) and $200 (Advanced) per user per month, billed annually on an annual contract. salesforce.com

What moves, and what gets rebuilt

Products move. RCA’s attribute catalog and pricing procedures are re-expressed as bundles and tiered pricing.

The migration, step by step

  1. RCA State Assessment

Inventory which RCA packages you have installed (Product Catalog, Pricing, CPQ, Billing, Subscription), which are in active use, and which were configured but never adopted.

  2. Catalog & Pricing Export

Export the RCA Product Catalog and pricing rules. Map them back to standard Salesforce Products and Price Books — Kugamon uses the native model.

  3. Install & Configure Kugamon

Salesforce native package install. Rebuild pricing rules, bundles, and approval flows in the Kugamon Setup Wizard — admin-driven, no SI partner required.

  4. Quote & Order History Migration

Migrate open quotes, active subscriptions, and historical orders. Reconcile against Salesforce Opportunities so renewal forecasts stay accurate from day one.

  5. Cutover & RCA Sunset

Go live on Kugamon. Sunset the RCA packages on the next renewal cycle to stop the $200/user/month bleed.

RCA introduces a new data model (Product Catalog separated from Pricing) that existing Salesforce CPQ skills don’t fully transfer to. Many functions are API-oriented rather than point-and-click. The result is rebuild-style projects, usually SI-led: a full rebuild runs 12–18 months in practice. Kugamon uses the native SF Product + Price Book model your admins already know — 4–8 week go-live, admin-led.

RCA list price runs ~$200/user/month, with implementation typically $480K–$960K for a 100-user mid-market deal. Kugamon CPQ at the same scale starts at $65/user/month with implementation of $10K–$15K (CPQ edition: $15K on a one-year term, $10K on two or three) — roughly 80–85% lower 3-year TCO. Yes. Many customers come to us partway through an RCA project that’s slipping. Because Kugamon uses native Salesforce Product + Price Book, your existing catalog, accounts, opportunities, and pricing all stay where they are. The RCA-specific rebuild stops; Kugamon picks up the standard data model and ships you live in 4–8 weeks.

Correct — RCA does not support quote cloning, a common pain point cited by Salesforce admins. Kugamon supports one-click quote cloning with editable cloned lines, the way reps actually work. Plus catalog load times of ~3 seconds vs. RCA-on-legacy-SBQQ’s reported ~20 seconds.

Most Kugamon migrations complete in 4–8 weeks — against the 12–18 months a Revenue Cloud Advanced rebuild takes in practice. We've been building Salesforce-native CPQ since 2009, across 150+ companies. We know where the traps are, and we've built a proven process to avoid them. You keep your Salesforce data, your product catalog, and your pricing rules. We handle the rest.

For Salesforce CPQ customers, your data stays in Salesforce — because Kugamon is in Salesforce. There's no database migration, no export-import, no data mapping to an external system. Your product catalog, price books, quotes, and order history remain exactly where they are. For teams migrating from outside Salesforce — including DealHub, Nue, Conga, or a custom-built CPQ — Kugamon supports data imports to bring your product catalog, pricing, and historical quote data into Salesforce. Either way, we've done it before and we'll guide you through it.
