Salesforce CPQ end-of-sale timeline: what happened, when, and what has not

Salesforce CPQ began as SteelBrick, which Salesforce agreed to acquire in December 2015. Salesforce stopped selling CPQ to new customers in March 2025. On July 10, 2026 it published its definitive end-of-sale article and retired the online documentation in favor of a single PDF. No end-of-life date has been announced; existing customers can renew, add users, and receive support. Next: the Winter ’27 release on October 12, 2026 adds quoting to Revenue Cloud rather than CPQ, and a CPQ migration assistant is on Salesforce’s roadmap for December 2026.

What has not happened

No end-of-life date. Salesforce’s FAQ: “Salesforce has not announced an end-of-life date for CPQ. It is currently in a maintenance phase — supported, but no longer receiving new feature development.” It points to its product and feature retirement philosophy for how such dates are handled when they come. Source: salesforce.com.

Also not happened: any change to existing contracts. Salesforce says end of sale “doesn’t” affect your current CPQ contract — you can continue using CPQ, renew, add users, and receive support under existing terms. Anyone telling you CPQ is “end of life” or “retired” is wrong on Salesforce’s own definition; see end of sale vs end of life.

What to expect next

Salesforce’s stated plan is a maintenance phase: support and critical fixes, no new features, and investment directed at Revenue Cloud Advanced and Revenue Cloud Billing. Under its retirement philosophy, an end-of-life announcement would come with notice. Practically, the constraints tighten before any date does: no new capability, a single PDF for documentation, and a shrinking pool of admins who still work in SBQQ.

Two dates are scheduled. The Winter ’27 release, generally available October 12, 2026, adds quoting for buyers, partners and renewals to Revenue Cloud (marketed as Agentforce Revenue Management from October 2025 until Salesforce restored the Revenue Cloud name on September 14, 2026), not to Salesforce CPQ (Salesforce). And at Dreamforce 2026 Salesforce put a migration assistant for the CPQ managed package, configuration included, on its roadmap for December 2026 (Salesforce+). That is a roadmap date, not a release; details in what Winter ’27 means for Salesforce CPQ customers. Neither is an end-of-life date: March 31, 2027, sometimes given as one on third-party blogs, has not been announced by Salesforce.

What that means for planning: you do not need to move on a deadline, but each renewal should be a deliberate decision. Options and timelines: migration hub. The neutral comparison with the successor: Salesforce CPQ vs Revenue Cloud Advanced.
