Nue CPQ, explained: company, architecture, pricing, and fit

Nue is a quote-to-revenue platform built for SaaS and AI companies: CPQ, subscription management, billing, and revenue reporting from one vendor. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco, it is hybrid: its CPQ is a Salesforce managed package that writes quotes and orders to standard Salesforce records, while its billing, invoicing, usage-rating and self-serve engines run on Nue’s AWS platform against a replicated copy that syncs back asynchronously. Nue says Salesforce is the system of record. Nue publishes one figure: “starting at $90 per user per month” on its AppExchange listing; platform fee, add-on modules and implementation are quoted. It fits SaaS and AI teams that want billing bundled with CPQ and accept that billing and usage data are processed outside the org.

The short answer

  • You sell SaaS or AI, with usage pricing and self-service channelsNue is built for that model.
  • You need every revenue record in SalesforceQuotes and orders are; billing and usage run on Nue’s AWS platform and sync back.
  • You want a priceFrom $90 per user per month on AppExchange; modules and platform fee are quoted.

The company

Nue.io was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in San Francisco. It was founded by Tina Kung (CTO; formerly engineering leadership at Salesforce CPQ/Steelbrick, Zuora and Oracle CPQ) and Kate McCullough; Mark Walker has been CEO since 2022 (nue.io/company). Nue is venture-funded: it says it has raised $40M, and its last equity round was a $20M Series A in January 2025 (Nue). In March 2025 it acquired Approvals Pro, which it still sells standalone at $25 per user per month (Nue). Recent launches: Nue AI on its MCP server (October 2025, Nue), Price Builder AI (February 2026), credit-and-commit burndown (March 2026, Nue), and quoting inside ChatGPT and Claude plus Nue Metering (September 2026, Nue). Its product is listed on the AppExchange as “Omni-channel CPQ and Frictionless Billing on Salesforce for Every Modern Revenue Model”.

The architecture

Where Nue keeps quote-to-cash records, next to Kugamon Nue: Quotes: in your Salesforce org (standard Quote + Nue fields); Orders: on both sides, synced (in your org: Salesforce Order; outside: self-serve orders start here); Subscriptions: on both sides, synced (in your org: Nue objects in Salesforce; outside: synchronized copy on AWS); Invoices: on both sides, synced (in your org: synced copy in Salesforce; outside: made by Nue’s billing engine); Payments: outside your org (Stripe or NetSuite); Revenue recognition: outside your org (RightRev or NetSuite ARM). 3 sync points. Figure 1. Where the records live: Nue. Nue’s CPQ is a managed package that writes to the standard Quote and Order. Its billing, invoicing, usage and self-serve engines run on Nue’s AWS platform, which Nue’s API documentation says works on a synchronized copy of the Nue data model and syncs changes back to Salesforce asynchronously (Nue API docs). Nue says Salesforce is the system of record (Nue). Revenue recognition runs through partners. Checked October 2026.

Nue is hybrid. Its CPQ is a Salesforce managed package that writes quotes and orders to standard Salesforce records; its billing, invoicing, usage-rating and self-serve engines run on Nue’s AWS platform against a replicated copy that syncs back asynchronously (Nue · Nue API docs). Nue says Salesforce is the system of record. That design gives Nue one engine across Salesforce and non-Salesforce channels (self-service, product-led), at the cost of billing and usage data being processed outside the org, so it is not fully native. Practical consequences for a Salesforce-only team:

  • Quotes and orders can be queried in the org; billing and usage data reach Salesforce through the asynchronous sync.
  • A second admin surface exists outside Setup.
  • Leaving Nue: Products and Price Books stay; export billing, usage and subscription history from Nue (Nue migration playbook, typically 3–6 weeks).

Pricing

Nue publishes one figure: “starting at $90 per user per month” on its AppExchange listing; platform fee, add-on modules and implementation are quoted, and its own pricing page asks you to contact sales (nue.io/pricing). Approvals Pro is sold standalone at $25 per user per month. Implementation takes about three months on average, per Nue, and can take up to a year; its marketing claims 4–8 weeks (SaaStr). For comparison, Kugamon publishes $65 (CPQ), $95 (Quote to Cash or Subscription Management), and $125 (Subscription Billing) per user per month on the AppExchange, and Salesforce publishes $150 / $200 for Revenue Cloud. Who Nue fits, and who it does not

Nue fits when…Look at a Salesforce-native CPQ when…
You are a SaaS or AI company that wants CPQ and billing from one vendor, with usage, credit or commit pricing. You are not a SaaS or AI company. Nue quotes one-time goods and services too, but its positioning and published customers are SaaS and AI.
Self-service and product-led channels matter as much as rep-led quoting.Rep-led quoting in Salesforce is the main motion.
You accept billing and usage data processed on Nue’s AWS platform, and a second admin console. You want every quote, order, and subscription to be a Salesforce record your admin owns.
A starting price, with modules and platform fee quoted, is acceptable. You want published per-user pricing and a fixed implementation fee.

Partly. Nue’s CPQ is a Salesforce managed package, listed on the AppExchange, that writes quotes and orders to standard Salesforce records, and Nue says Salesforce is the system of record (Nue). Its billing, invoicing, usage-rating and self-serve engines run on Nue’s AWS platform against a replicated copy that syncs back asynchronously (Nue API docs). Under the strict definition — every revenue object a Salesforce record, with no external system of record or sync layer — it is not fully native. See the definition.

Nue was founded in 2019 by Tina Kung (CTO; formerly engineering leadership at Salesforce CPQ/Steelbrick, Zuora and Oracle CPQ) and Kate McCullough. Mark Walker has been CEO since 2022. The company is headquartered in San Francisco (nue.io).

Nue publishes one figure: “starting at $90 per user per month” on its AppExchange listing; platform fee, add-on modules and implementation are quoted (nue.io/pricing). Published comparables: Kugamon $65–$125 per user per month (AppExchange); Salesforce Revenue Cloud $150–$200 (Salesforce).

Products and Price Books stay in Salesforce. Rebuild Nue price tags and plugins as configuration, export billing, usage and subscription history from Nue, load into the target, and run one quote cycle in parallel. To Kugamon this typically takes 3–6 weeks (playbook).
